Smith LawnCare combines horticultural expertise with design principles to craft outdoor environments that reflect your lifestyle, maximise usable space, and stand up to local climate conditions year after year.
Smith LawnCare was founded in 2009 by a team of landscape architects and certified horticulturalists who believed that outdoor space design in Aberdeen, NC was being underserved. The dominant approach at the time was to install the cheapest available plants without regard for long-term performance, aesthetic coherence, or the microclimate conditions of each property.
Over sixteen years, we have built a practice that treats landscape design as a genuine discipline. Every project begins with a thorough site analysis covering sunlight exposure, drainage patterns, existing vegetation, soil composition, and your personal vision. This analysis informs a design proposal specific to your property, not adapted from a generic template.
Every plant is chosen for suitability to your soil, light, and climate conditions rather than catalogue appeal or availability convenience.
Designs account for plant growth over three to five years, ensuring the landscape performs well in year four as it does at installation day.
The team that designs your landscape installs and maintains it, eliminating handoff errors and preserving the vision across all seasons.
From initial design concepts to ongoing property maintenance, every service reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and long-term results.

Stories from Aberdeen, NC property owners who invested in professional landscape design and maintenance.
The landscape design Smith LawnCare produced was beyond anything we expected. The plant choices are thriving two seasons in and draw comments from every visitor.
We had a challenging sloped backyard that other companies refused to take on. Smith designed a terraced garden that is now the most used space on our property.
The attention to plant selection was impressive. They chose species that actually perform in our soil type and light conditions. My garden has never been this healthy.
Smith redesigned our commercial office campus three years ago. It has required almost no unscheduled interventions since installation. Outstanding planning quality.
The designer took time to understand how we use our outdoor space before drawing anything. The finished design reflects our lifestyle rather than a generic concept.
The patio and landscape lighting installation transformed our backyard into a year-round space. Craftsmanship is excellent and all electrical work was done by qualified staff.
Landscape design involves a significant investment of time and money. We want you to understand our process clearly before committing. Call us anytime.
1 (866) 996-5431It begins with a site consultation where our designer visits your property, evaluates existing conditions, and discusses your goals. We then prepare a design proposal including the associated service fee for the design work.
Yes. Design and installation are separate services with separate fees. The design fee covers site analysis, plant selection, and production of the design document. Installation is quoted separately based on the approved design.
Absolutely. Many of our projects involve redesigning, refreshing, or expanding existing landscapes. Our assessment identifies what is worth keeping and what additions would improve the overall design.
Timeline varies with project scope. A garden bed redesign might take one to three days. A full backyard transformation with hardscaping and planting could take two to four weeks. We provide a detailed timeline with every proposal.
We advise on permit requirements for all hardscaping projects and assist with the application process for standard residential permits. Complex structural work may require an engineer's review, which we can coordinate.
New plantings require consistent watering during the establishment period. We provide a written care guide with every installation and offer post-installation maintenance programmes as an available add-on.
We provide a workmanship guarantee on all installation work. Plant warranties depend on proper watering and care during establishment and are discussed in detail during the project consultation.
Yes. We present the initial draft for your review and incorporate revisions before finalising the plan. Minor revisions are included in the design fee. Significant scope changes may require a revised proposal.
